Press conference: Hadwick, Assembly Republicans call for special session on state fraud

On Tax Day, Assembly Republicans will hold a press conference at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, sat the California State Capitol, President Ronald Reagan Statue, Lower Level to call for a special session of the legislature focused on fraud across California’s state programs.

The request follows a recent announcement by California Attorney General Rob Bonta regarding arrests tied to a major hospice fraud operation.

Concerns about fraud have been documented for years across major state programs, including Medi-Cal, homelessness spending, in-home supportive services, and infrastructure projects. State audits, criminal cases, and public reports have repeatedly flagged vulnerabilities and gaps in oversight.

Assembly Republicans are calling for a focused legislative response to examine the full scope of fraud, identify failures in oversight, and advance reforms to protect taxpayer dollars. Spanish-language remarks will be delivered during the press conference.
