“Greetings from British Columbia and I hope this finds you well. I’m reaching out with a very specific and unusual request — as a Canadian journalist hoping to learn more about my great-grandfather’s life in California and ultimately link it back to our ancestral origins in Sweden.

“Though I have little information to go off as a start, I do know my great-grandfather, Evert Lindquist (no middle name), was born April 24, 1908, and lived in McCloud, Susanville and Salinas until his death around 1977. He possibly worked for the Fruit Growers Supply Company, and he and my great-grandmother Florence Esplin used to camp in Warner Valley, Plumas County.

“I realize this request is a far reach, but if you and your staff would be able to help in even the slightest capacity, I’d very greatly value knowing of any archived material that a search for ‘Evert Lindquist’ brings up in your database records between 1908 and 1977. Whether a captioned photo, news article or other item were to come up in the search, your time and assistance would mean the world as I begin to retrace my family’s distant steps.
