The Rotary Club of Susanville announces the availability of three $1,000 scholarships for Lassen High School seniors.
The criteria to apply include being a senior at LHS; have a minimum 2.5 grade point average and good citizenship.
Seniors will compose an essay not to exceed 1,000 words on this year’s Rotary International theme “Unite for good.”
According to a statement from the Rotary Club of Susanville, the club “is a community service club celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Worldwide there are more than 40,000 clubs, with more than 1.4 million members. Service Above Self is the object of club members.
“Your essay should focus on how you see yourself, presently and in the future, achieving the object as a member of a Rotary Club in creating a community that “Unite for Good.” How do you see yourself being a future Rotarian serving your community.”
Seniors should submit their essay, a cover sheet including their name, mailing address, telephone/cell phone number, eMail and the name of the trade school, college or university they plan to attend and an unofficial high school transcript to the LHS Counseling Office by 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 15.
