The Salvation Army and Safeway partner with the community in the Nourishing Neighbors program.
According to a statement from the Susanville Salvation Army, “Nourishing Neighbors is a grant-based program through a partnership with Safeway and The Salvation Army-Susanville. We have been awarded this grant, but it is based solely on the donations made by individuals by rounding up in $10 increments at the check-out counter.

“Every penny given comes directly to the Salvation Army and is used to provide 400 holiday food boxes — 200 at Thanksgiving and 200 at Christmas.”
