Seneca Healthcare District announces the retirement of Dr. Dana Ware

Seneca Healthcare District announces the upcoming retirement of Dr. Dana Ware, a deeply respected and steadfast provider at the Lake Almanor Clinic, effective Dec. 31, 2025.

Dr. Dana Ware.

For more than 38 years, Dr. Dana Ware has been a cornerstone of compassionate, high-quality care in our community. Since graduating from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1984, she has dedicated her career to serving the Lake Almanor Basin and surrounding communities, providing exceptional family medicine and building lasting relationships with generations of patients. Her unwavering dedication to her patients, her professionalism, and her commitment to the mission of Seneca Healthcare District have left a profound and lasting impact. Dr. Ware’s presence has been a source of trust and comfort, and her legacy will continue to inspire both patients and colleagues for years to come.

“Dr. Ware has been a pillar of strength and compassion in our district,” said Shawn McKenzie, CEO of Seneca Healthcare District.
“Her commitment to her patients and this community has been nothing short of extraordinary. We are deeply grateful for her years of service and wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”

“It has been the honor of my life to care for this community,” said Ware. “I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside families through generations of life’s milestones. I will forever cherish the relationships built and the trust placed in me. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives.”

As we prepare for this transition, we encourage Ware’s patients to begin planning their continued care. We recommend working directly with Ware and the Lake Almanor Clinic to ensure a smooth transition to a new provider.

While we are actively recruiting a new provider for the Lake Almanor Clinic, we are pleased to share that several of our current providers are accepting new patients, including:
• Lori Koehler, FNP;
• Heather Smith, PA:
• Stefanie White, FNP; and
• Joe Russo, DO.

We are incredibly grateful for Ware’s years of service and the profound difference she has made in our district and community. Please join us in celebrating her remarkable career and wishing her the very best in her well-earned retirement.
