South County event provides free books to students

A Children Youth Special Health Care Needs Cal Reach grant, awarded to Lassen County Public Health, provides calm corners and sensory labs at community events as well as educational workshops, parent connection and support groups for parents with children and youth with special healthcare needs.

Led by Ronda Hall and Lassen Community College nursing student Adriana Salgado, a free gently-used book giveaway was sponsored by District 5 Supervisor Jason Ingram, and Mitch Lively came out and gave some baseball lessons with his partner.

Joining us in that picture with Mitch Lively, his partner, Ingram and David Teeter is Olivia Scanlan, checking out a place to possibly put together a community garden. And superintendent Kooper as well.

“Margie’s Booknook’s David Teeter held the event — I just sponsored it,” Ingram said. “Lively’s Performance owner Mitch Lively put on a free mini baseball clinic at Sierra Primary with us Monday and Herlong High School today.”
