Steve Hilton’s gubernatorial campaign comes to Susanville
Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton visited Susanville’s Pizza Factory Friday, Sept. 12.
Steve Hilton addresses several dozen Lassen County residents at the Susanville Pizza Factory Friday/The Fox News personality said his decision to run to for governor was inspired by his good friend Charlie Kirk, who encouraged him to seek the elected office and “Make California Golden Again.”
He even stopped taking questions from the community and asked those in attendance to watch Kirk’s widow’s first public statement after her husband’s assassination just two days earlier.
“Hi, everyone,” he said. “It’s great to be here in Susanville. Thank you for coming. I’m going to just get straight to the point. This is the first event I’ve done since my friend Charlie died.”
Hilton bashed on the Democrats and their leadership of the state.
Steve Hilton.“We all love our state so much,” Hilton said. “We can’t stand what they’ve done. This should be the greatest place in America. And it is really because they can’t ruin it forever because they’re not going to keep us down forever. And that’s really what Charlie showed with his life and his work. Anything is possible. That’s what Charlie showed us.”
And he said Kirk should be an inspiration to all of us.
“The fact (is) that Charlie ignored the people who said it was impossible and just went for it, and he went for it with courage and confidence and a smile on his face, and with just positive arguments about what he believed. Because what he believed is what we all believe, and we know it’s right — which is that the foundation of a good life for everyone who lives here is our Constitution, the greatest document that’s ever been written. It is the free market economy, which is greatest tool for lifting people out of poverty. That’s what Charlie believed, and he made that case and took it everywhere … He did what was impossible, and that’s our inspiration … We need to win this for Charlie. That’s what we need to do.”
He railed against the Green New Deal, the highest taxes in the nation, the highest gas prices in the nation, the way businesses flee the state, fires, the timber industry, boys playing in women’s sports, Prop 50, the budget deficit and his new tax plan that would let the first $100,000 in income for individuals be tax free.
He even suggested his candidacy might lead to a red rejection of the Democrats’ super-majority in Sacramento,
