Supes discuss community assistance programs for the animal shelter at Tuesday’s meeting

Lassen County District 5 Supervisor Jason Ingram tossed another log on the fire responding to his constituents — a discussion of community assistance programs for the Lassen County Animal Shelter. Possible items of discussion include insurance for shelter volunteers and a foster program to lessen the strain on the crowded animal shelter.

Closed session
The board meets in closed session for two items — a conference with legal counsel regarding significant exposure to litigation (if needed) and an employee performance evaluation of the County Administrative Officer.

Public hearings
The board will hold a public hearing at 10:10 a.m. to receive a staff report, recommendations from the Lassen County Planning Commission and introduce and adopt by title only a proposed county ordinance to replace the Zoning Index Maps with the Zoning Dataset from the County Geographical Information System.

Matters for time certain
At 10 a.m. the board will receive a presentation by Rick Hopson, Lassen National Forest Supervisor.

At 10:20 a.m. the board will consider a letter of support for the Fredonyer Butte Trail System.

Boards and commissions
The board will consider appointing Matt Hurley (term expires Dec. 6, 2026) to fill a vacancy on the Standish-Litchfield Fire Protection District Board.

Information and consent calendar
Items on the information and consent calendar include a request by Ingram to designate $500 from his discretionary fund to the Lassen Grizzly Claybreakers; a request from District 2 Supervisor Gary Bridges to designate $500 from his discretionary fund to the Lassen Grizzly Claybreakers; consideration of a resolution articulating the employer contributions for medical care for employees and annuitants as required by law; receive and file the prison trial cost reimbursement program items; approval of the minutes for the board’s Feb. 17 meeting; and receive and file miscellaneous correspondence.

Department reports
Consider approval of the purchase of a $559,861.75 Bear Cat armored rescue vehicle for the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office; consideration of the Lassen County Board of Supervisors Rules of Procedure; and consideration of employee reclassifications and the unfunding of one full-time position (assistant to the CAO/Budget Analyst).

The board’s next regularly scheduled meeting will be held at 9 a.m. March 10.
