Supes hold special meeting Tuesday — concerns about the Hidden Woods Music Festival

The Lassen County Board of Supervisors hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, in the Board Chambers, 707 Nevada St., to receive information, discuss and give direction to staff regarding the Hidden Woods Music Festival, scheduled for Aug. 23-24 at the Lassen County Fairgrounds.

According to a memo to the supervisors from Fair Manager Kaitlyn Midgley, “In one month, the what we hope will be the region’s next music festival experience will be coming to Susanville.”

The festival, “in the works for more than 18 months, features appearances by KALEO, The Fray, Hinder, LIT, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Secondhand Serenade and others, including Huckleberry Road, featuring former Susanville residents.

According to Midgley, the festival’s budget is $350,000 and more than $100,000 in advance tickets have already been sold. Ticket prices range from $75 to $225, and the festival is expected to attract an audience of about 2,500 between the ages of 21 and 60 over two days “to enjoy the alternative and soft rock hits from the 90s and early 2000s.”

The festival features camping in the North Arena Parking Lot, and spaces with power and water have already sold out. The festival also anticipates attracting an additional $65,000 in sponsorships.

Many vendors from the fair will be returning for the festival, and new vendors are being added daily. The “family friendly” festival also features horseshoes and cornhole tournaments.

“We are planning a fun-filled event and hope you will join us on this next venture,” Midgley wrote to the supervisors.
