Susanville cyclist Frank Winters recently triumphed in the dreaded Agony Ride 2024 by riding the top number of miles.
Susanville cyclist Frank Winters won the annual Agony Ride.
He finished the 24-hour race with 357 miles. Second place rider Tom Brown rode 353 miles, and third place cyclist Austin Elliott completed 339 miles.
The Annual Agony Bike-a-thon benefits Christian Encounter Ranch in Grass Valley which counsels and disciples troubled young people.

This was Winters’ fourth Agony Ride. This year 139 bike riders rode 25,951 miles and raised more than $400,000.
The event starts and ends in Loyalton, California. The route is a 38-mile loop which contenders repeat. It includes Vinton and Beckwourth.
Winters a 68-year-old whom some refer to as the world’s most disciplined man, declared at the finish that he would not participate in the Agony Ride again.
