Susanville’s Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms seek donations for ‘care packages’ to send to locals serving in the military
It’s hard to imagine how much a package from home can mean to a military person serving our nation in some faraway land.
According to letter posted on Facebook, “We are an organization made of mothers who supports our local men and women serving in all branches of the military and the local veterans. Our military sons and daughters serve all over the world, often away from many comforts of the United States. We are proud of those who serve within our military and we always do our best to show them our support.”
The Blue Star Moms seek donations of individual size 54 individual sized Teddy Grahams, 108 individual packages of hot cereal (oatmeal or Cream of Wheat), 54 breakfast drink mixes and 54 packages of individual sunflower seeds.
According to the letter, “A couple of times each year we send our local military sons and daughters care packages, especially around the holidays, mainly Christmas and Easter. These packages consist of snacks or food items, along with entertainment and/or hygiene items.
“Our next care package for our troops is fast approaching we are getting ready to pack boxes for our military men and women, we would like to include you and your business in our project.
“We feel that having our community and businesses in our area help us fill these boxes will show all local military men and women the love and support from our community as a whole. When we send our packages, we let our military know who help provide the donations. This lets those receiving these care packages know that their home town community cares. This is a community wide service project. We are asking if you would like to help and participate in. We have about 54 local military members that we are filling boxes for … ”
“We want to thank you for your help and service of gathering these items. We would like these items by Oct 1, 2025.
