Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 • Police department arrests juveniles connected to burglaries

The Susanville Police Department arrested five boys on suspicion of burglary within a three-day span, from Tuesday, Nov. 27 to Friday, Nov. 30.

According to press releases from the department, the first incident involved three Susanville minors at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 340 Limoneria Ave. Officers responded to a report of a 2000 Honda motorcycle being stolen out of an unlocked garage. An investigation conducted by the department led to information leading to the arrest of a 14-year-old, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old. The police said the minors’ names are being withheld due to their age.

The motorcycle was found in a field near the victim’s home on Limoneria on Wednesday, Nov. 28.

The second incident was reported at 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30, involving two 14-year-old boys from Susanville. Officers responded to Nevada Street, near Memorial Park, on a report of juveniles trying to open vehicle doors. The kids fled upon the officers’ arrival, but were subsequently caught and arrested.

After conducting an investigation, police officers learned the juveniles had allegedly stolen alcohol from Safeway earlier the night of Nov. 30, then allegedly attempted to start a fire near the area of the bridge on Riverside Drive.

Again, the police department can’t release the names of the minors due to their age.

The press release from the police department said the kids were arrested on charges of burglary, conspiracy to commit a felony, attempted arson and attempted vehicle theft. The case has been sent to the Lassen County Juvenile Probation Department.
