The California Department of Transportation will begin rehabilitation work on 26 miles of roadway along Highway 395 through the Milford area in eastern Lassen County.
The project begins approximately one mile north of County Road A26 (Garnier Road) and extends northward to 0.4 miles north of Sunnyside Road. Improvements will include: • Repair of the existing roadway, and installation of an asphalt concrete overlay, and widening to provide 8-foot shoulders. •Upgrade road connections and pave driveway approaches. •Replace striping and recessed reflective pavement markers. •Install rumble strips for alerting errant drivers. •Extend existing culverts as required.
Construction on the $29.9 million project will be done by Sierra Nevada Construction, Inc. and was scheduled to begin yesterday, Monday, March 19. This is a two-season project with anticipated completion in the summer of 2008.
During construction the traveling public can expect one-way traffic control and lane shifts with up to 15-minute delays. Traffic will be controlled with pilot cars and flaggers.
