A local church is hoping its brand new radio station will reach out to everyone in the community and share the message of God.
88.5 FM, KWLK, called The Walk by members of Calvary Chapel Susanville, started officially broadcasting Aug. 12.

The radio station, which is based in the church building at 450 Richmond Road in Susanville, plays continual Bible studies going through every verse in the Bible, testimonies and will live-stream church services on Wednesdays and Sundays, public service announcements and sessions that addreess life issues.
According to Scanlan, about 80 percent of the supplies used in the in-house production and radio station were donated.
“It was a gift and vision from the Lord to reach the lost in our community,” said Scanlan.
The radio station is not selling ads, but is funded by the church.
Calvary Chapel in Susanville recently formed an in-house 88.5 fm radio station, which plays Bible studies, church services and testimonials. Soon, the station will be available online.The radio station reaches most of Lassen and Plumas, and especially to the prison, where the church hopes to reach inmates and prison staff. However, the station is for everyone, including those looking to strengthen their faith. From the production room, the content is broadcast from Hamilton Mountain.
While currently the station can be listened to on the radio, according to Scanlan, in a few days, interested listeners may be able to log on to KWALKradio.com and listen online and even on smart phones.
In addition to using members from the church to speak on the station, Scanlan’s wife, Grace, has helped lead the way with production as the church with her five years of experience helping with the radio at Calvary Church Valley Spring.
Since the project is still in its beginning phases, Scalan said the production crew is still working out the fine details, adding the main goal is to have the station reflect the heart of Jesus and the glory of God.
Mike and Grace Scanlan put down roots at Calvary Church Susanville about seven years ago in January.
