Unidentified teen suffers ‘severe head wound’ in Monday night Main Street shooting

According to a statement from the Susanville Police Department, an unidentified youth was shot in the head following an altercation at a Main Street gas station.

About 10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, Lassen County Dispatch Center received several 911 calls of a shooting that had just occurred at 2525 Main Street, the Spirit Gas station, where an individual had been injured. Susanville police officers and Lassen County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area.

Upon arrival, law enforcement located a juvenile victim (who will be unnamed for victims’ confidentiality purposes) suffering from a severe head wound. The victim was promptly attended to and transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center and was later transported out of the area for additional treatment.

Witnesses and bystanders on scene described an altercation between two groups of people that led to the discharge of a firearm.
