Utah man sustains fatal injuries from Highway 395 collision

A Utah man sustained fatal injuries from a two vehicle collision Saturday, Oct. 31.

Per a statement from the Susanville CHP, at about 7 a.m. Saturday, a two vehicle traffic collision occurred on Highway 395, north of South Constantia Road. The driver of a white Nissan SUV, Steve Godoy, 46, of Sandy, Utah, proceeded northbound and drove into the path of a three axle Peterbuilt truck, driven by James Caetano, 48, of Eagle Point, Oregon, the statement alleged.

The force of the collision caused the Nissan to overturn and come to a rest on the northbound shoulder. The Peterbuilt truck came to rest partially blocking the southbound lane.

Due to the force of the collision, the driver of the Nissan was ejected, and pronounced deceased at the scene, the statement read.

The driver of the Peterbuilt was transported to Renown Medical Center for evaluation of moderate injuries.
