James Arthur Haut, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend passed away March 15, 2024, at the age of 79, surrounded by the embrace of his loving family in Reno, Nevada. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and accomplishment.

He was born Nov. 7, 1944, the eldest of two sons to Arthur David Haut and Viona Jenner Haut.

James grew up in Lodi where he graduated from Lodi High School. He went on to earn his degree from the University of the Pacific in Stockton. Determined to pursue his passion for dentistry, he obtained his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska. For more than two decades, he devoted his skills to his private practice in Lodi and shared practice in Manteca, touching the lives of countless patients with his compassionate care. He retired after dedicating another 15 years as a dentist at the California Correctional Center in Susanville, leaving a lasting impact on those with whom he worked.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Carolyn, their three children: Jennifer, David and his wife Kristin, and Brian, and his grandson, Finnegan. His brother, David, and his wife, Kit, and their children, Jeff and Sandi also mourn his passing, cherishing the memories they shared. He is predeceased by his father and mother.

Beyond his professional endeavors, James treasured his family above all else. He often said that his best accomplishment was his three children.

James’s interests were as diverse as they were deep-rooted. He found solace in the pages of books and old movies, relished the challenge of crossword puzzles, and expressed his creativity through crafting jewelry, daggers, and model cannons. He enjoyed camping, fishing, target shooting, and later in life, embraced the expanse of knowledge offered by the internet. His passion for life and learning was infectious, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

In the hearts of those who loved him, James will forever remain a beacon of strength, kindness, and wisdom. Though he may be gone, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us through the memories we hold dear.

James Arthur Haut will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, his legacy enduring through the lives he touched and the love he shared.
