Kevin Wayne Wills

Kevin Wayne Wills
May 25, 1952 – Nov. 25, 2023

Kevin was born May 25, 1952, to Robert Wills and Wanda (Wade) Wills in Scotia, California.  He was the first born of their twin sons. The family moved to Red Bluff, California in 1960.  Kevin graduated from Red Bluff Union High School where he and his brother Kenton played Spartan football all four years. After graduation in 1971 he joined the United States Navy where he trained as a Surgery Tech at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. He went on to be stationed in Stockton, Guam, and on a hospital ship out of Manila, Philippines.

Upon his return to the states, he went to work for the U S Forest Service and then for Diamond International Red Bluff. In the early 1990’s he was employed by the US Army in Herlong, later transferring to the National Park Service in Death Valley and then to the US Coast Guard in McKinleyville, California. He retired as a civilian employee from the US Army in Herlong in 2017.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Kenton Wills, and his sister Teri Cowan. He is survived by his sister Jeri Cairns (Tom), nieces Lisa Shockey, Jana (Ben) Mullins, Kristy (Tony Brugaletta) Wills, Pennie Wills and nephew Eric (Lori) Carpenter.

Kevin found his love for the outdoors as a child. Growing up, he would often go camping with his family in the Lassen National Forest. He loved spending his extra time hunting on the ranch, fishing with friends, camping and even going wood cutting. He enjoyed going on spontaneous camping trips with his longtime girlfriend Linda.

One of his favorite places to fish with his buddies was Frenchman’s Lake in the Plumas Forest, where he would very rarely come home without trout in his ice chest. Gambling at Bordertown was one of his go to places in his free time as well. He was a very lucky man when it came to his favorite poker machine.

Kevin had a sense of humor that could tickle anyone’s funny bone. He had a way of turning any situation into one we could have a good laugh at. When it came to grilling, he was the master. Family would volunteer him to cook for family gathers because of how well he cooked his meals.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Pennie Wills for the special care she took of her uncle in his last weeks and to special friends Kris and Hailey Peterson.

Kevin was a special brother, uncle, and friend and will be forever in our hearts.
