Life Tributes for the week of 9/3/19

Joan O. Johnson

On Aug. 1, 2019, the Johnson family lost our mother. She passed away in Reno, Nevada. She was born in Kilgore, Nebraska, on April 1, 1937. She was the first born of eight children, and had lived in Susanville for the last 40 years. She married her husband, Russell Reginald Johnson, Jr. on July 30, 1957. She was forever proud of her Marine.

Both a loving wife and a loving mother to us kids, she was also a devoted and loving grandmother to her five grandchildren and eventually four great-grandsons. Before her retirement, she had been an insurance adjuster for Fireman’s Fund in Bettendorff, Iowa, and dental receptionist in Susanville.

There were never enough hours in a day or weeks in a year to do all the family heirloom projects she started. To our mom, having something to pass down to all of us meant a great deal, as it was all done with love and gratefulness for keeping family memories alive in all of us for generations to come.

Children are a reflection of their parents and our mother worked hard to instill these values in all of us; the values of honesty, integrity, and appreciation for what God has given.

As we as a family move forward, it is now up to us to continue these values and to instill them in our children and grandchildren. God bless us all for having our mom in our lives. We will miss you mom.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheri Tripp; son, Michael Johnson; grandchildren, Danielle and Jonathan Tripp, Trevor and Samuel Johnson; and her great-grandsons, Harper and Xander Tripp; and Jase and Nathan Hale.

Services were held at Diamond Crest Cemetery on Aug. 31, 2019.
